The Global Crypto Art Exhibition
in 59# Venice Biennale
The Committee of the Venice Biennale and the Cameroon Pavilion officially have approved 22 artists to participate in the first edition of crypto art exhibition in the 59th Venice Biennale. Curated by Sandro Orlandi Stag, the nominated curator of the Cameroon Pavilion by the Biennale.
The theme of this exhibition is "The Times of the Chimeras" which takes place in Palazzo Bernardo on the central Island of Venice from April 23 to November 27, 2022.
Diversity, democratic and demonstration are the major characteristics of the exhibition. Kevin Abosch, Marina Núñez, Eduardo Kac and several other artists with significant contributions to both the crypto and contemporary art scenes are featured. These are experienced creators who have been exploring digital and multimedia art since the 1970s and 1980s, evolving alongside the development of computer technology. Their works span decades, combining cryptographic methods with expressive aesthetics to produce groundbreaking visuals. Within this curated digital space, the tension between algorithm and emotion mirrors the immersive environments found in city center online casino, where engagement is crafted through precision, structure, and a play on sensory perception. Alongside these pioneers, young artists presenting bold new crypto artworks are taking the stage, adding to the vibrant and evolving narrative.
This exhibition also aims to provide a space for discussions between professionals about the future of art and NFT innovation. During the Venice Biennale pre-opening week, the GCA DAO co-hosted with Art Consortium a series of panel discussions on Art and Web3 with experts from all over the world with both art and NFT backgrounds. During the seven months’ exhibition, a variety of lectures, forums, workshops and training programs will be held online and in the physical exhibition space, for nearly one million visiting art practitioners, art lovers and crypto collectors from all over the world.
